Debit & ATM Cards

VISA Debit Card

The UniBank VISA® Debit Card is not a credit card; it is a convenient way to access the money in your checking account with the flexibility of the VISA® symbol. Point-of-sale purchases are deducted from your checking account and a detailed record of every transaction will appear on your monthly statement. Use it in restaurants or department stores, simply by signing your name or entering your Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Whether you are shopping locally or around the world, you can use your UniBank VISA Debit Card to pay for everyday purchases instead of carrying extra cash, writing checks or using a credit card. Some restrictions may apply.  Please read our “Traveling with your Debit Card” information.

Digital Wallet

Add your UniBank VISA Debit Card to your mobile device’s digital wallet and experience a whole new level of convenience when shopping in-store, in-app, or online. Available for Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Google PayTM.

VISA Checkout

Visa Checkout is a digital payment service designed to simplify your entire payment process when shopping online. Pay online without re-entering your card and shipping details where Visa Checkout is accepted.

ATM Card

Your UniBank ATM Card gives you the ability to make cash withdrawals, deposits, balance inquiries and transfers at any UniBank ATM, 24 hours every day. When you are on the road, you can get cash at any NYCE® or CIRRUS®, or PLUS ATM location worldwide. And, since UniBank is a member of the SUM™ surcharge-free ATM network, you may avoid additional surcharges from other financial institutions.

Report a Debit or ATM Card Lost/Stolen

When you have lost your ATM or Debit Card, think it was stolen or suspect that fraudulent activity is taking place, you have the ability to deactivate your card through UniBank’s Online Banking and Mobile Banking systems. When you report your card lost or stolen, it will immediately and permanently be deactivated preventing unauthorized transactions from taking place. Once this process is complete, you will need to call UniBank’s Customer Contact Center at 800.578.4270 or stop by your local branch during business hours to receive a new card.

Suspend Your Debit Card

Can't find your debit card or know you won't be using it for a while? You can suspend your card in UniBank's Mobile Banking app anytime. If you’re forgetful and misplace your card, but don’t want to completely disable it, this is a great feature that puts control of your cards in the palm of your hand!

Here's what to do:

  1. Sign into the UniBank Mobile Banking app
  2. Click the menu at the top left of the display
  3. Go to "Preferences" then "Manage Cards"
  4. Select the card from available options (The last four digits of your card(s) will be listed)
  5. Choose a card option
  6. Re-activate your card when you need it within Mobile Banking

Here's what to expect:

  • The suspension will take effect immediately.
  • Your card won't work for purchases, ATM transactions, or scheduled recurring online payments. Be sure to make other payment arrangements directly with your payees.
  • You can re-activate your card within Mobile Banking when you need it.
  • If you share an account with a joint account holder, the suspension will only affect the card selected since cards are managed separately.

UniBank does not charge for using our Mobile Banking service. Your mobile phone carrier may charge for text messages, data transfer fees, and/or Web access. Check your wireless plan for details.

Guardian Alert Protection

The UniBank VISA® Debit Card is a convenient way to access money in your checking account with the flexibility of the VISA® symbol.  Unfortunately, the news headlines are filled with card breach and fraud stories these days.

UniBank takes your account security very seriously, thus we are pleased to offer a voluntary fraud text message alert service – Guardian!

When you use your debit card and certain conditions occur, Guardian will send you a text message.  If the transaction is yours, you can ignore the text message.  If the transaction was not yours and you think it is fraudulent, respond to the text message to shut down your card.  It is that simple!

To participate in the program you need to register your UniBank debit card on our Guardian website:

Register Your UniBank Card

Just enter your card number, last 4 digits of your SSN and zip code - you may register up to 6 cell-phones per card on this website.

NOTE: there is a screen instructing you to SEND a text message to verify your cell phone.

On the Preferences tab, you can also set “do not disturb” timeframe to prevent messages during certain hours of the day, like when you are sleeping!

After you register for the service, you will receive text message alerts IF:

  • A transaction occurs outside the United States
  • A transaction is greater than $200
  • There are 5 or more transactions within 24 hours
  • A transaction is “Card not present” (a charge without you swiping your card, example, online purchase)
  • A transaction is “declined”

The alerts will help confirm the transactions are yours – if they are yours, you do not need to do anything!   If they are NOT yours, respond to the text message within 12 hours to stop further fraudulent transactions - your card will be suspended, so contact the UniBank Customer Contact Center for the next steps.

There are no charges for the service, but normal message and data rates may apply based on your mobile plan.

You may discontinue text alerts immediately by replying STOP to a Guardian alert. You may unsubscribe from this service entirely on the website or by texting the word STOP to 27576.

Please call the UniBank Customer Contact Center at 800-578-4270 if you have any questions.

Enhanced Fraud Protection Service

In our efforts to keep your accounts secure, UniBank utilizes an alert system for potential debit card fraud. Enrollment in this service is NOT required - debit card customers are automatically enrolled in this service.

Here’s how our alert system works:

  1. When potential fraud is detected, a text message alert will be sent to the mobile number on file, to which you may respond “fraud” or “no fraud”.  Text messages will be sent any time of day, 7 days a week. If you prefer not to receive texts, you can opt out by following prompts within the text content if you receive a text message.
  2. If no response is received through text message alerts, automated phone calls will occur between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Eastern Time, 7 days a week, asking you to confirm or deny fraud. The call will also give the option of speaking to a fraud analyst.
  3. The first round of calls will be made to your home and mobile telephone numbers in that order, leaving voice messages if there is no answer.
  4. If contact is not able to be made during the first round of calls, a second round of calls will be made to your mobile and home in that order, leaving voice messages only if one couldn’t be left previously.
  5. You must reply directly to the Fraud Center text message or phone call indicating whether or not the alert is actually fraud. If you do not reply, your card will remain suspended until you reply directly to the Fraud Center.

Remember – our messages will never ask for your PIN or account number.

The phone number for the Fraud Center is 800-417-4592. The text alerts will come from 32874. Please add these numbers to your phone and label them “Fraud Center” so it will display on your phone if you are contacted. Please also take a moment to log into Online Banking to verify/update your telephone numbers on file with UniBank or call us at 800-578-4270. This service is provided at no charge to you.*

* UniBank does not charge for using our Mobile Banking service. Your mobile phone carrier may charge for text messages, data transfer fees, and/or Web access. Check your wireless plan for details.
