Important Information About Traveling with Your Debit Card
Before you depart on your next vacation or business trip outside the New England region or outside the United States, we would like to share some important information about your UniBank ATM card and VISA debit/credit card.
When using your UniBank card outside the region or outside the U.S., the fraud monitoring system in place for your protection may be activated. This means that your cards could be declined while trying to make purchases.
To avoid this situation:
We recommend that you call our Customer Service Center at 1.800.578.4270 at least one week before departure and provide us with the dates and destinations. By notifying UniBank in advance, we can take steps to avoid your credit and/or debit card from being blocked against authorized purchase transactions during your trip.
As of February 15, 2017, the following states/countries are on UniBank’s blocked list:
- Dominican Republic
- Ivory Coast
- Korea (North and South)
- Russian Federation
- Saudi Arabia
- South Africa
- United Kingdom
Our Fraud Center will contact you directly should fraud be detected. The phone number for the Fraud Center is 800-417-4592. The text alerts will come from 32874. Please add these numbers to your phone and label them “Fraud Center” so it will display on your phone if you are contacted. Please also take a moment to log into Online Banking to verify/update your telephone numbers on file with UniBank or call us at 800-578-4270. This service is provided at no charge to you.
