UniBank Supports the Daniels Farmstead Foundation

UniBank is pleased to announce that $1,000 has been donated to the Daniels Farmstead Foundation, Inc., to assist in the historical preservation efforts at Daniels Farmstead in Blackstone, Massachusetts. The Daniels Farmstead Foundation was established by an all volunteer staff in 2003 to safeguard the future of the 18th century farm.

The Daniels Farmstead Foundation is participating in the Massachusetts Historical Commission’s state-funded grant program that matches funds raised to aid in the historical preservation process. The Foundation has raised over $30,000 toward their fundraising goal. The project architects, Chenot Associates, Inc. of Princeton, Massachusetts, have estimated that the total cost of the project will be over $149,000.

The restoration project will bring the farm back to its original condition for the purpose of operating as a living museum where local historians, schools, and the general public can learn about farm life in 18th and 19th century New England. The Foundation will adhere to preservation guidelines throughout the restoration process to maintain the historical integrity of the farm. The scope of the project includes rebuilding chimneys, replacing roofs, constructing underground drainage systems and other exterior repairs such as painting and installing new gutters. The project is expected to begin in the summer of 2007.
