UniBank Shows Appreciation to Blackstone Valley Community On Saturday, June 2, 2007 UniBank hosted its First Annual Community Appreciation Day at its main branch in Whitinsville, MA. The event offered a free and entertaining day for children and adults. WXLO, 104.5 FM broadcasted live from the bank in the morning, drawing crowds from throughout the Blackstone Valley to this family event. Other entertainment included two moon bounces, face painting, a visit from the Worcester Sharks and live music by local band, Route 66. UniBank raffled an $800 Weber grill, which was won by a lucky Whitinsville resident. There was also a “pitch burst” where participants could pay to soak familiar faces, including Kenneth J. Redding, president and CEO of UniBank, with water balloons that popped by throwing balls at a bull’s-eye. A total of $202 was raised and was donated to the Peace of Bread Community Kitchen, located at the United Presbyterian Church in Whitinsville. Free food was served all day by UniBank employees. Bangma's Dairy Bar from Uxbridge served ice cream to the crowds, offering a refreshing treat on a hot and sunny day. According to Mr. Redding, “This community appreciation event was a great way for UniBank employees to show our gratitude to fellow community members in the Blackstone Valley. It brought the community together in a unique way and gave us the chance to say ‘thank you’ to our friends and neighbors.” Mr. Redding estimates that between 800 and 1,000 members of the Blackstone Valley community attended the First Annual Community Appreciation Day. UniBank has already scheduled its Second Annual Community Appreciation Day for Saturday, June 28, 2007, and anticipates an even larger turnout at next year’s event.
