UniBank Sponsors the Blackstone Canoe Trail

UniBank is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Blackstone Canoe Trail, a collaborative program of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce and the John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, intended to promote business, art and tourism in the Blackstone Valley.

UniBank has purchased one of the 18 canoes that collectively make up the Blackstone Canoe Trail. Local artist, Christine Montecalvo of Sutton, was enlisted to design and paint UniBank’s canoe. It was transformed into a collage depicting numerous Blackstone Valley landmarks including Purgatory Chasm in Sutton and the Gorge in Blackstone, among others.

Blackstone Valley visitors and residents are encouraged to follow the canoe trail and take their photograph with the various canoes. Participation is free and it offers people a chance to explore the historic Blackstone Valley. Contestants can enter their photographs for a chance to win a new 15 foot canoe complete with paddles and life jackets for four.

UniBank’s canoe is now on display in the bank’s Whitinsville Main office lobby. Contestants may view the canoe during branch lobby hours: Monday – Wednesday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Thursday 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
