Robert A. Bernstein Elected to UFS Bancorp Board of Trustees

Timothy P. Wickstrom, chairman of the board of UFS Bancorp (holding company of UniBank), and Kenneth J. Redding, president and chief executive officer at UniBank, announced that Robert A. Bernstein was recently elected to the holding company’s Board of Trustees and UniBank’s Board of Directors. His duties include strategic oversight of the holding company and the bank, as well as setting policies for management to implement. Mr. Bernstein has been on UFS Bancorp’s Board of Corporation since 2004.

Mr. Bernstein is a partner in the Boston office of Holland & Knight, LLP. He is a former Member of The Massachusetts State Senate, where he represented Worcester and several surrounding communities from 1995 to 2001. While in the Senate, Mr. Bernstein served as Chairman of The Insurance Committee and Vice-Chairman of The Banks and Banking Committee, as well as serving on several other committees. He also holds four bar admissions.

Mr. Wickstrom commented, “Mr. Bernstein is a great addition to our Board as he brings his strong reputation and extensive experience in government to our deliberations. This is particularly beneficial to our leading Fiscal Advisory Services line of business, which serves the needs of communities throughout the Commonwealth.” 

Mr. Bernstein holds a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and The Bancroft School in Worcester. He lives with his wife Kristen and their two children. Mr. Bernstein is affiliated with a number of professional, civic and community organizations. He previously served on the Board of Directors of The Premier Insurance Company of Massachusetts (Travelers Insurance Co.), as well as the Boards of several charitable organizations.
